Some of the UK's most remote areas still do not have access to broadband of any kind, but later this year, the kind that makes us look on in envy. BT and everything everywhere alor star mall is planning an LTE trial in Cornwall, England's most southerly province, which will last from the 1st September until the end of December. Connection alor star mall speeds could scale as high as 40Mbps, although the typical rate is expected to be closer to 10Mbps. Volunteers are now being sought to participate in the trial because they have to live (or be willing to move, we assume) in the nice little 4G coverage area near Newquay. BT and T-MOrange allowed for a temporary part of 800MHz spectrum to do their experiment, which will probably be at stake in the LTE spectrum auction of the year in the following set. First we Newquay, then we take the world.
