Adventure Land is land behind the pain. The place where the best moments happen, they seemed unattainable. As many never get to experience. Dit nobody comes if reason is to control. Road to Wonderland created by faith, hope and love.
I have reviewed hundreds of films, and I'm not going to write another one. But I want to tell Arild Ostin Ommundsen who made the film Wonderland something about the experience of seeing it. For I staggered out of Klingenberg cinema last night and could just forget to be on talk about the film afterwards, although it would have been nice to see again the fine folks from Stavanger and hear more about how it has been making the film with the world smallest film crew and many of them family and old friends. The film struck taco trucks a nerve and associations have flowed like a flyvemaursverm in almost a day now. Often say something about it before taco trucks everyday come and take me again.
What defines the term "culture", I have thought a lot on special bits depending that I began to Culture Department in NRK three years ago. Is there any common experience? Football, concerts, theater? Or is it personal, what we ourselves consume trips, books, serials? And why are considered some types culture taco trucks as more important than others and the innovative often as not so important? And if I worked in the Arts Council or Film Institute and would allocate public tax money to projects, which I would designate as the best? I cheer for those who go their own ways, tread new paths and creates art that makes me want to redefine the readings and adopted. And this film was perceived as the storm feeling on that is coming, which cleans the air, slings everything out of its usual place and leaves a chaos that makes one first just have to put down on a stone, so first after a while begins to think. The storm I had in me yesterday when I walked out of the cinema, and although I had not cried, as several taco trucks of those around me had the dark hall, so thought a buddy from the old days who stood outside and smoked when I went that I had it. But it came later.
Fairyland is about a young woman who gives birth to a love child she will not rear, because it committed a murder "that should not have happened." When she gets out of prison a few years later, run the love her daughter protagonist actions and choices that lead her to situations of life and death. She gets sensible advice she did not listen, she gets chances to get back to a normal and happy life she does not take - and we realize that it is much possible going to go to hell. I feel like writing "we", because she I saw the film with had the same experience, but can hold me to my own and let others have their: I was so afraid for her mother to the gorgeous, happy and innocent daughter, I was sitting tense in the seat at the theater, held their breath, locked up securely eyes, cheered her and was furious at those who went in the way of her hopes for a happy family, her definition of happiness, her very own hope that no one else saw opinion in. The dream that only she could get to come true.
Because it is the way it is, is not it? That it is only ourselves who can fulfill our own dreams? Regardless of whether we have a boyfriend, a best friend, a family, a job or a network that backs us up or not.
And that much of what is around us, the typical in our culture, the safe, the ordinary, both can create security and promise us - and simultaneously destroy us and forever keep us in a state of awed that everything is ok as long as it is recognizable and that as long as everything is by the familiar, so it's okay, then we can say we're satisfied. Something else could well be to demand too much, kunnde not it? Or, even worse; open for pain. Whoever might otherwise kept in check by numbness. That others believe something taco trucks on behalf of us and have such strong opinions about what is "the right thing". That's what I feel that the main character in Wonderland do, she chooses the opposite, she lets the pain lead because it shows where the hope is, it becomes her only way out. And in this film becomes so intense emotions stretched to breaking point. This is not feel good. Not a sit back and be entertained experience. This is unpleasant, demanding, hurt - and very much alive. It is art that means something, that makes a totally real difference. Fairyland is art I would not have missed, because the experience sparked something in me that made the world was clear
