Kuching we continue towards Mulu National Park. There are not many ways to achieve. Mulu 3 * per week there is a flight from Kuching, the alternative is to leave from Miri where you can opt for a boat ride of just over 8h (at least if there is enough water in the river), gsc mid valley or a race of 20 minutes. The only airline currently flies to Mulu is MASWings, a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, they offer this flight daily.
- Outside the park are several 'lodges and homestays that offer simple accommodation. Usually, only cold water and electricity for a few hours of the day. Some have real showers, others have a barrel with a dipping bucket. The price varies from person to 35MYR 20MYR per person / dag.- The park itself is also accommodation. This is also luxurious. Expensive but Here is the whole day electricity and the rooms are equipped with a working shower with hot water. The fee 200-250MYR per room per night. - There is also the Royal Mulu Resort still, this is a luxury resort outside the park. Recent reviews of the hotel are usually gsc mid valley not really favorable. The hotel is currently undergoing a major refurbishment, which will then fall under the banner of Marriott. During gsc mid valley the renovation, gsc mid valley the number of available rooms is limited and they are not all the facilities of the hotel open. End of 2013 it is expected the new "soft opening". The renovations have been delayed a few times so I would not be too hard to rely on this date. Pictures of the new hotel look promising but until the renovations run this hotel, I do not think the best option. Also please note that the hotel is far from the entrance of the park and you can take the shuttle bus from the hotel to the park only.
We had the Mulu River Lodge aside, this hotel is right next to the entrance of the park, but on arrival showed our reservation nowhere to be found and there were no more rooms available. They offered us a room in the homestay that is located gsc mid valley behind the hotel. Similar but dip bucket instead gsc mid valley of shower. After one night we opted to change gsc mid valley to a room in the park. Below pictures of the two rooms so you can judge:
Mulu National gsc mid valley Park was the most professionally run park that we have encountered on this trip. The park has a full visitor center that can match the ones you find in the parks in America. (Lots of information panels and a cinema) gsc mid valley They offer as you so all could read above, several accommodation (dormitory on regular rooms to deluxe rooms) and they also have a cafeteria. All paths are indeed built with wooden planks so you can see as you walk around. It might take a little of the charm of the forest road, but is still quite practical if you want to enjoy your surroundings as you walk. The fauna-walk we did was way too different information boards along the way.
Do not expect to see. Many large animals in this park Previously, there was in this environment very much hunted these animals. Monkeys are about the only large animals that you will see here. What you can see here are millipedes, stick insects, dragonflies, gsc mid valley butterflies, salamanders gsc mid valley and similar. (Photos in Mulu Photo Library)
Of course there are the bats. This is the reason that most of the park visit. At nightfall they fly en masse what makes for a great spectacle. One good tip if you want to see this spectacle: gsc mid valley do not wait until the last evening. The bats do not fly out every night and so had to wait until the last night you would ever be missing. We were going to see the first night and later learned gsc mid valley that they had not seen anything during the 2nd night of our stay. There is an observation in the park where you can see it. Bats Here you can go without a guide. However, you can book a guided tour of the 'Deer' and 'Lang' caves. This tour ends at the observatory of the bats around at the time that they will fledge. (The caves can only be visited with a guide)
The above tour we have done the first day and the next day we did the tour towards 'Wind' and 'Clearwater' caves. All four caves are worth a visit. Each cave has its own charm and I liked the four caves are not repetitive. In the next section we will talk about our snorkelling in Tunku Abdul Rahman and the famous Rafflesia flower
